2019 Isuzu MUX Review

2019 Isuzu MUX front and side view

From 2013 through 2020, the first generation Isuzu MUX, codenamed RF, was produced. The MUX is the result of a collaboration between General Motors and Isuzu. As a result, it shared its platform with the Chevrolet Trailblazer/Holden Colorado, which debuted before MU-X.

In 2017, the MUX received a facelift that included integrated LED front and rear lighting as well as better interior quality with the inclusion of soft material.

The MUX’s second version was developed in 2020 and is currently in production. It is built on the same platform as the third-generation D-Max and the Mazda BT-50.

The 2019 Isuzu MUX is powered by two engine options, a 1.9 L RZ4E-TC (Diesel), and a 3.0 L 4JJ1-TCX (Diesel) which are coupled to a 6-speed Aisin automated transmission.

Interior

Legroom & Space

The interior of the 2019 Isuzu MUX is modern and attractive.

There is ample legroom and headroom in the first row, and the seats can recline to a comfortable position. The second row is also impressive, with plenty of leg and headroom. The third row of seats may be unpleasant for adults because of the limited leg and headroom, but it is ideal for kids.

Exterior

The 2019 Isuzu MUX has a commanding and solid appearance.

The grille is emphasized with chrome, and the Isuzu name is in between the horizontal chrome line. The headlamps are positioned beautifully and the LED daytime running lights provide an air of refinement. Fog lights and air vents are located on the lower fascia.

Running boards are installed on the side contour to allow access. The mirror housing, as well as the frame line that runs from the A-pillar to the C-pillar, have chrome highlights. Roof rails on top of this SUV add character to an already appealing vehicle.

The rear end is equipped with an electronically controlled tailgate, tail lamps, and turn signals.

Stability And Handling

The ride and handling of the 2019 Isuzu MU-X are two of its true standout traits in and around town. Its independent suspension at the front and a coil-spring system with gas shock absorbers and a stabilizer bar at the rear absorb bumps superbly. This combination stabilizes the rear over-speed humps and controls lateral movement while driving at high speeds on corrugated roads.

The braking system is up to the duty of slowing down the MU-X, and the four-wheel-disc configuration is supported by Anti-Lock Brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Emergency Brake Assist.

The steering wheel responds well to road curvature and is easy to handle.

Reliability

The 2019 Isuzu MUX has a reputation for dependability. It does, however, have limitations, just like any other vehicle. Transmission problems are the most typical complaints from MUX owners. To avoid such issues, regular servicing and maintenance are essential.

Refer to the Isuzu MUX buyer guide for a thorough dependability report. We also urge that you always follow the instructions in the owner’s manual.
