2021 Honda Vezel Review

The Honda Vezel is a five-seater compact SUV that has been in production for two generations, from 2013 to the present. It is known as the Honda HR-V in other markets outside Japan. It boasts high safety ratings and offers all-around protection for both passengers and pedestrians.

The first generation codenamed RU was produced between 2013 and 2020 while the second generation known as RV has been in production from 2021 to present.

The 2021 Honda Vezel is powered by two power trains; the 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol engine that is paired with a CVT transmission and a hybrid version of the same engine dubbed e-HEV that consists of two electric motors.

2021 Honda Vezel Interior

The 2021 Vezel has an impressive interior, with soft-touch and textured materials throughout the cabin, giving it a high-end feel.

You start the Vezel with a push start button and the 7-inch digital gauge wakes up along with the speedometer. With a hard plastic top and soft plastic bottom separated by air vents, the dashboard has a clean, uncluttered look.

The 2021 Vezel’s airy feel is enhanced by a unique ‘Air Diffusion System’ that incorporates L-shaped vents in the top corners of the dashboard. The interior controls are positioned as close as possible to the driver’s field of vision. This makes driving more comfortable.

The front seats are roomy with ample legroom and headroom, giving the driver a good view of the road ahead. In the second row, the seats are also comfortable and legroom is adequate, but headroom for taller passengers is limited due to the Vezel’s sloping roofline.

Cabin Storage

There are several stowage compartments in the cabin, useful for storing items such as smartphones, drinks, goggles, handbags, etc. In the first row, there are 2 cupholders, door panel storage, a glove box and the centre console. In the second row, there are 2 cupholders, front seat jacket pockets and door pockets.

2021 Honda Vezel Boot Space

The 2021 Vezel offers 319 litres of space behind the rear seats. This may not be a lot, but it is enough to carry the luggage of a family of five. If extra space is needed, the second-row seats can be folded in a split configuration to create a considerable amount of space.

2021 Honda Vezel Exterior

The 2021 Vezel has been redesigned with an aggressive and modern look that is sure to turn heads on the road. The new design language has been borrowed from the latest generation of European and Chinese SUVs.

The front fascia now features a colour-matched front grille, and there are two straight character lines to the left and right of the bonnet, giving the Vezel an aggressive look.  The 2021 Vezel features a honeycomb grille integrated into the bumper and a Honda logo in the centre of the grille.

From the side profile, the Vezel features a sloping roofline that continues to the rear, with a shark fin antenna at the top.

The rear end has also been reworked to include an LED light bar that illuminates the tailgate at night.

Safety Features:  SRS Airbags, Curtain airbags, EBD with TCS, ABS, City Brake Active system, Rear Torque Distribution,  collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and road departure mitigation.

The engines are mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) which replaced the second-generation Honda Vezel’s 7-speed DCT gearbox.

The 2021 Vezel provides a comfortable ride on the road thanks to its soft suspension that absorbs bumps smoothly. It cruises quietly and smoothly on the road making it fine for daily driving.
