The first generation of the Subaru Legacy codenamed BC/BF/BJ started its production in 1989 and continued up to 1992. In 1993 the Legacy entered its second generation dubbed BD/BG/BK and was manufactured until 1997. From 1998 to 2002 the third generation of the Legacy designated as BE/BH was in production. In 2003, the fourth generation of the Legacy commenced its production that continued up to 2008. It was codenamed BL/BP.
