2017 Toyota Harrier Review

Toyota Harrier is a five-passenger midsize crossover SUV manufactured by Toyota. It is one of the most desired automobiles in Kenya due to its elegant appearance, above-average safety features, and dependability.  As much as it boasts the perks of a good car, it is up against the Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Murano, Volkswagen Touareg, Mazda CX5, Lexus NX, Mercedes Benz GLA, and Honda CRV.

Toyota Harrier manufacture began in 1998 and continues to this day. From March 1998 through December 2008, the Harrier was rebadged as the Lexus RX in foreign countries.  Toyota had yet to retail the Lexus brand to Japanese customers at this point. The second generation Toyota Harrier, designated XU30, debuted in 2003, together with the export Lexus variant.  It was nearly identical to the Lexus RX during its first and second editions.

The Harrier’s third generation, called the XU60, debuted in 2013, as a unique model line built on a platform distinct from the RX. The fourth generation Toyota Harrier, designated XU80, was introduced in 2020 and is continuing in production today.

The 2017 Toyota Harrier is available with two engine options: a 2.0 L 3ZR-FAE (Petrol), and a 2.5 L 2AR-FXE (Hybrid) which are coupled to a 6-speed automatic and eCVT transmission. Click here to purchase the 2017 Toyota Harrier Buyer’s Guide.
