2017 Toyota Mark X Review

The Toyota Mark X is a midsize car manufactured and marketed by the Japanese automaker Toyota. The Mark X succeeded the Mark II which was first introduced in 1968. The "Mark X" is pronounced "Mark Ex" rather than "Mark Ten," whereas the "Mark II" is pronounced "Mark Two." The Mark X builds on the earlier Mark II and its siblings. The Mark X is mostly owned by young clientele who like it because of its athletic appearance, engine performance, and reliability. It contends against the BMW 5 series, Mercedes Benz C200, BMW 320i, Nissan Fuga, Audi A4, and Subaru Legacy.

The first iteration of the Toyota Mark X codenamed X120, debuted in 2004 and was produced until 2008. It was designed to replace the Mark II saloon, which had been on the market since 1968.

The second version of the Toyota Mark X, known as the X130, went into production in 2009 and lasted until 2019. The previous generation’s changes include the removal of the exhaust outlet diffuser, a 6-speed automatic transmission for 4WD vehicles, and a return to the hinge design trunk rather than lift support.

In 2012 and 2016, the Mark X received two facelifts. Additional spot welding was added to the 2016 facelift to strengthen the body. As standard, the vehicles now include “Toyota Safety Sense,” which includes autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert, automatic high lights, and radar cruise control.

The 2017 Toyota Mark X is available with four engine choices: a 2.5 L 4GR-FSE V6 (Petrol), a 2.5 L 5GR-FE V6 (Petrol), a 3.0 L 3GR-FE V6 (Petrol), and a 3.5 L 2GR-FSE V6 (Petrol), all of which are mated to a 6-speed (GRMN) manual, and 6-speed automated transmission.
