Detailed Review

2017 Toyota Premio front and side view

The Toyota Premio’s first version, designated T240, debuted in 2001 and was in production until 2007. At the same time, Toyota introduced the Allion. The Premio sedan has a more sophisticated approach than the Allion, which is aimed at a younger clientele.

The second generation of the Premio designated T260, began manufacture in 2007 and lasted until 2020, when it was discontinued. The LED in the rear light cluster was added to the Premio. The smart entry and start system, a color rear-view display, and a hard disc navigation system compatible with the G-Book MX telematics service were also added. Four-wheel drive was available on vehicles powered by the 1.8-liter 2ZR-FE engine.

The Premio and Allion received a redesign in 2010 with more aggressive and sharper-looking headlamps and twin LED tail lights, while the interior remained mostly unchanged. Toyota updated the Premio and Allion with a facelift in 2016. Simultaneously, “bi-beam” LED headlights and the “Toyota Safety Sense C” collision avoidance system were launched, with stylistic cues taken from the bigger, more prestigious S210 Series Crown.

The 2017 Toyota Premio comes with three engine options; a 1.5 L 1NZ-FE (Petrol), a 1.8 L 2NZ-FE (Petrol), and a 2.0 L 3ZR-FAE which are coupled to a 4-speed automatic and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
