The first generation VW Touareg, designated 7L, was manufactured from 2002 to 2010. The Touareg comes standard with a four-wheel drive technology called 4motion. It had an automatic progressively locking center differential (with manual override) and an in-cabin “low range” setting. To improve off-road capability, the Touareg included an optional 4-wheel active air suspension that can raise the ride height on command, as well as a locking rear differential.
