Stability And Handling

The 2018 Ford Ranger offers a pleasurable driving experience.

The steering wheel responds well to road curvature and is especially useful when approaching tight corners at high speeds. Passengers in the interior are properly shielded from road noise and unpredictable vibrations.

Off-road, the Ranger performs similarly well. Despite its heavy chassis, the Ford feels agile off-road because of an outstanding 4WD system (2Hi, 4Hi, and 4Low) that works in tandem with electronic stability control and traction control.

There is also hill descent control, but because the first gear ratio is so low, it can still descend hills at a manageable speed. Its approach angle is fairly low, but the departure angle is among the best in the pick-up categories.

This truck also has rollover protection and trailer sway control.
