Interior

Legroom & Space

The 2018 Mazda Axela has a beautiful cabin with high-quality materials. The first row of both the hatchback and sedan have sufficient legroom and headroom. Its seats can be reclined to accommodate a desired posture. The second row of the Sedan has plenty of knee room and headroom. Average size people will find the second row of the hatchback pleasant. Taller passengers will find it uncomfortable due to its slanting roofline that limits the headroom.

Cabin Storage

The 2018 Mazda Axela encompasses numerous storage compartments designed to improve the ride comfort of the passengers. The first row of both the hatchback and sedan has a center console, door panel storage, a glove box, and two cupholders. Two cupholders mounted on the armrest, jacket pockets, and door pockets are included in the second row.

Boot Space

The 2018 Mazda Axela (Hatchback and Sedan) boasts a sizeable cargo area that can hold small and medium-sized luggage. The rear seats can be retracted to create more space.

Exterior

The 2018 Mazda Axela is a game changer when it comes to exterior styling as the manufacturers were keen on details. Sophistication and elegance define its Kodo design language. The front end incorporates LED daytime running lights as well as the headlamps that give it a modern look.  The Mazda badge sits on a nicely curved grille that has a chrome accented frame which adds to its sophistication. Air vents and fog lamps are encompassed in the lower bumper. Visibility is top-notch both in the sedan and hatchback.

The side profile of both the Sedan and hatchback are somewhat conservative but with a keen eye you will see contours running from the front wheel fender to the rear wheel fender. The contours play a big role in improving aerodynamics which in turn results in fuel efficiency. The sloping roofline of the hatchback is well complemented by a roof spoiler that enhances its sportiness. The rear end of both the hatchback and the sedan feature tail lights and turn signals. The only difference between the two body designs in the rear is that the hatchback has an electronically driven tailgate that has a broad opening while the trunk of the sedan is not that wide.

Stability And Handling

The 2018 Mazda Axela is quite nimble and delivers a smooth and comfortable ride. The steering wheel is power-assisted, so it provides the driver with immediate feedback hence making it adapt to road curvature. The suspension system is very rigid and provides a perfect blend of comfort and handling as well as protects occupants from experiencing any kind of unstable motions.

The engine works in tandem with the transmission system to deliver a smooth start and good acceleration. The cabin is very secure and well-insulated to prevent outside noise especially noises picked from rough surfaces from bothering the passengers. The driver has a commanding view of the oncoming traffic as the Axela has good visibility.

Because of its low ground clearance, the Axela cannot exploit off-road terrains as its body components would be damaged. Anti-lock braking system and stability control are among the features incorporated in the Axela to improve its stability.
