The Mitsubishi Delica D5 commenced its production in 2007 and it comes as either a seven or eight-seater. It is built on the GS platform that is used by the Xpander as well as the second and third generation of the Outlander. It was first availed as a 4WD before the 2WD was later added to the lineup.

Interior

Legroom & Space

The 2018 Mitsubishi Delica has a plain and basic interior with a versatile layout. The first row has sufficient legroom and headroom and its seats can be reclined to match a desired preference. Passengers seated in the second and third-row seats also have plenty of knee room and headroom and their seats can also be adjusted to match a comfortable posture.

Cabin Storage

The 2018 Mitsubishi Delica is fitted with numerous storage compartments that are intended to improve the ride comfort of occupants. The first row has four cupholders, a glove box, and door panel storage. The second-row passengers have access to jacket pockets and door pockets. Occupants in the third-row seat have access to cupholders.

Boot Space

The 2018 Mitsubishi Delica is a versatile vehicle with variable boot sizes based on the seat configurations. When all the seats are in use the boot space can only haul small and medium-sized goods. When the second and third-row seats are retracted, the load area widens and extra space is created to carry more cargo.

Exterior

The 2018 Mitsubishi Delica has a boxy design that could be mistaken for being conservative but it is muscular in a way especially when cruising in off-road terrains. The D5 has a distinguishable front end for it has a slanting bonnet with a chrome-accented grille affixed with the Mitsubishi logo. The headlights complement the front design very well for it lends the D5 an upscale look. The lower fascia has air vents and fog lights which are used when driving in dusty areas, or mist-prone areas.

The side profile has dual electric doors that allow passengers to either board or alight the minivan majestically and effortlessly. The lower end of the electric doors has nicely done contours that improve the overall appearance of this vehicle.

The rear end features a big tailgate that is electronically driven and has a wide tail light mounted on it running from one end of the vehicle to the other. Depending on the taste of the owner, a roof spoiler as well as roof rails can be added to the D5 for more aesthetics and also to enhance the sportiness of the D5.

Stability And Handling

The 2018 Mitsubishi Delica has a pleasant and sturdy ride. Its steering wheel is power-assisted hence it adapts very nicely to road curves. The suspension systems are top-notch as they protect occupants from jarring movements. Furthermore, owing to the Delica’s versatility, it can hold tons of cargo. The engine works in tandem with the transmission system to deliver a smooth start and decent acceleration.

The braking system is robust enough to bring this minivan to a complete halt in a matter of seconds hence avoiding any kind of disaster. Its approach and departure angles plus its high ground clearance make it a good choice of vehicle to use when driving in off-road terrains. It is always recommended that when approaching tight bends, you should reduce the speed of the D5 as it could experience some body roll.

The manufacturers of the D5 did avail it with two driving configurations, a 2WD and a 4WD. For urban dwellers, a 2WD is pretty okay for them for it is mainly used as a daily driver. For off-road lovers, the 4WD will give them the performance they expect to enjoy as the D5 can very easily cruise in difficult terrains like on mud, gravel, or even sand.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Delica is an excellent family car particularly for those with large families because of its spacious cabin that can be easily configured to carry many people simultaneously or ferry tons of freight. It is available as either a 2WD or a 4WD version. Off-road lovers will benefit from the 4WD whilst people who reside in the metropolis will enjoy using the 2WD models because for them it is more of a daily driver. Its repair and maintenance costs are reasonable but its acquisition price may deter buyers on a limited budget from owning it.
