Detailed Review

From 1969 to 1993, the first generation Range Rover was produced. It was only available in two doors until 1981 when the four-door model was introduced. The Range Rover was never meant to be a premium vehicle. The Range Rover was built on a body-on-frame chassis with box section ladders. The Range Rover had coil springs rather than leaf springs, four-wheel disc brakes, and permanent four-wheel drive.

The second generation of the Range Rover began production in 1994 and continued until 2000. This vehicle was constructed on a long-wheelbase chassis and had an enhanced version of the Range Rover V8 engine. It was the first model to have satellite navigation.

The third-generation Range Rover was manufactured between 2001 and 2011. This version shared components and systems with the BMW 7 Series. The L322 was powered by a normal BMW E39 electrics system from 2001 to 2004. The L322 received an enhanced Jaguar-derived electrical system from 2005 to 2009, which includes fiber optics and Bluetooth. Between 2010 and 2012, the L322 received updated Jaguar-derived electrics, the first “modern feeling” system, and a rotary dial in place of the gear lever.

The interiors remained substantially untouched until 2006. A number of new engines were launched in 2010, including 5-liter variants of the petrol V8 in standard and supercharged forms, as well as exterior front and rear line changes.

The fourth generation Range Rover commenced production in 2012 all the way to 2021. Instead of the steel unibody utilized in the third generation, this version has an all-aluminum monocoque unitary body structure. During this time, the Range Rover hybrid, a diesel-powered hybrid electric, was unveiled. The Range Rover Plug-in Hybrid, a petrol-powered model, was introduced in 2018.

The 2018 Range Rover comes with three engine options: a 3.0 L (Petrol), a 3.0 L (Diesel), and a 5.0 L (Petrol), all of which are linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
