2018 Toyota Sienta Review

The Toyota Sienta is a mini MPV that has made great strides in the Kenyan market due to its reliability, excellent fuel economy, and durability. It is positioned below the Voxy/Noah and above the Roomy in Toyota's MPV range. The name "Sienta" is derived from the Spanish word "siete" meaning "seven" (referring to its maximum passenger capacity) and the English word "entertain". As much as it is considered a good car, it is up against the Honda Freed, Honda Fit Shuttle, VW Touran, and Peugeot Partner.

The first generation Toyota Sienta, known as the XP80, was introduced in 2003 and was in production until 2015. The Sienta was redesigned in 2006, with new colors such as apple green and metallic blue added.

Toyota Sienta’s second generation designated XP170, went into production in 2015 and continued up to 2022. It abandoned its predecessor’s boxy style in favor of an updated exterior design inspired by the shape of a trekking shoe. When compared to prior generations, interior space was also increased.

The Toyota Sienta is based on the NBC platform, which is also used by the Vitz, Platz, Porte, and other vehicles. The 2018 Toyota Sienta is available with two engines, a 1.5-liter 1NZ-FE (petrol) and a 1.5-liter 1NZ-FXE (hybrid) connected to a CVT and an eCVT (electronic continuously variable transmission).
