2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport Review

The Land Rover Discovery Sport has gained popularity in the Kenyan market because of its distinctive outward appearance, sumptuous interior, and of course, its off-road prowess. Availability of the third row of seats is a turn-on for individuals with bigger families. It is up against Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes Benz GLE, Volvo XC60, Lexus NX, and Mercedes Benz GLB.

Detailed Review

2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport front view

The Land Rover Discovery Sport was launched in 2014 and is still in production today. It replaced the Freelander in a revised Land Rover lineup, with Discovery becoming a sub-brand of Range Rover. Although the Freelander model series was a successful way for Land Rover to join the medium SUV market, the company believed that the Freelander name was tarnished with unreliability and that the Discovery brand was more satisfying.

The pre-facelift Discovery Sport is based on the JLR D8/LR-MS platform, which is also used in the Jaguar E-pace and the Range Rover Evoque L551. In 2019, the Land Rover Discovery Sport underwent a facelift based on an all-new Jaguar Land Rover Premium Transverse Architecture (PTA) chassis.

The 2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport has a single engine option: a 2.0 L (Petrol) engine coupled to a 9-speed automated transmission.

There is plenty of headroom and legroom in the first row, as well as seats that can recline and provide lumbar support. The second row is likewise more comfortable, with plenty of knee and headroom.

Because of the limited headroom and legroom, the optional third row of seats has been designed specifically for children.

Reliability

The 2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport is regarded as a dependable vehicle after the manufacturer made minor improvements to address issues with previous generations. To continue enjoying this car, it must be serviced on a regular basis.

However, some owners have complained about the vehicle’s powertrain, claiming that there was a latency between pressing the pedal and the vehicle actually accelerating.

Refer to the Land Rover Discovery Sport buyer guide for a thorough dependability report. We also urge that you always follow the instructions in the owner’s manual.
