The Mitsubishi Delica D5 commenced its production in 2007 and it comes as either a seven or eight-seater. It is built on the GS platform that is used by the Xpander as well as the second and third generation of the Outlander. It was first availed as a 4WD before the 2WD was later added to the lineup.

Interior

Legroom & Space

The 2019 Mitsubishi Delica features a basic cabin with plastic touches covering the majority of parts on the interior. The first row boasts adequate legroom and headroom and its seats can be reclined to the occupant’s best fit. Passengers seated in the second and third-row seats also have plenty of knee room and headroom.

Cabin Storage

The 2019 Mitsubishi Delica has several storage compartments designed to improve the ride comfort of occupants. The first row has four cupholders, a glove box, and door panel storage. The second-row passengers have access to jacket pockets and door pockets. Passengers in the third-row seat have access to cupholders.

Boot Space

Exterior

The 2019 Mitsubishi Delica still retains its boxy design but with a dynamic and modern appearance. It features distinctive styling cues like its bold chrome-accented grille with the “shield-like” Mitsubishi logo mounted on it to stamp its authority. Its sleek headlights give it a more upscale and refined look. Some owners have added after-market LED daytime running lights which makes this minivan really stand out. The contours on its slanting hood and on the sides are more streamlined and this helps improve the aerodynamics of the van. The lower fascia still features the fog lights and the air vents.

The side profile is conservative but at the same time very appealing. The doors are electrically driven to allow passengers to easily embark or disembark from the vehicle. The rear-end is pretty much similar to its predecessors with the tail lights and turn signals completing the overall look of the D5. Its large tailgate is electronically operated and this comes in very handy especially when your hands are full of cargo. To improve the aesthetics of this minivan, it will all depend on the owner’s taste and preference.

Stability And Handling

The 2019 Mitsubishi Delica rides smoothly and comfortably. Owing to its power-assisted steering wheel, the driver has a good control over the vehicle as it adapts very well to road curvature. The cabin is well-insulated to prevent outside noise especially from the engine or noises picked up from rough road surfaces from causing discomfort to occupants.

The suspension system is amazingly up to its task as occupants can enjoy their drive free from jerky movements. The front bears Macpherson  strut type of suspension as the rear is fitted with a multi-link that gives a good balance between comfort and handling.

The agility of the D5 is top-notch but it is advisable to reduce speed when approaching tight corners as this minivan still has the tendency to experience body rolls due to its height. The brakes are strong enough to help the driver avoid any kind of collision especially when driving very fast on highways.

The approach and departure angles of the D5 plus its high ground clearance makes it a good choice of vehicle to use when driving in off-road terrains. Th D5 comes standard with two driving configurations, a 2WD and a 4WD. For urban dwellers, a 2WD is pretty okay for them for it may only be used as a daily driver. For off-road lovers, the 4WD will give them the perfomance they expect to enjoy as the D5 can very easily cruise in uneven surfaces.

Reliability

The 2019 Mitsubishi Delica is a reliable car. It has a high ground clearance that allows it to exploit extreme off-road terrains. However, the 2019 D5 just like any other car is not immune to problems. Engine misfiring and transmission issues are the most commonly reported troubles.
