2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Review

The Mitsubishi Outlander is a compact crossover SUV that made its debut in 2001. Since its inception, the Outlander has not been given the recognition it deserves but that perception has changed over the years, especially in the Kenyan space courtesy of its sleek exterior design, advanced safety features, and availability of a third-row seat which would largely appeal to folks with large households. The Outlander was formerly known as the Mitsubishi Airtrek to imply its adventurous capabilities. It competes with the Toyota Harrier, Nissan X-Trail, Toyota Vanguard, Mazda CX5, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Subaru Forester.

The first row offers plenty of legroom and headroom. The higher trim levels of the Outlander boast seats that are power adjustable.

The second row is also impressive as it has ample knee room and headroom. The third-row seats are ideal for kids. Adults will find it crampy and uncomfortable due to the limited space.

Exterior

The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander has a sleek and sporty exterior design that will for sure coat attention wherever it is driven. The Outlander is identifiable through its dynamic shield grille design. The LED daytime running lights and headlights lend it a refined and contemporary look. The lower fascia is fitted with fog lights and air vents that are used in cooling the radiator which in turn cools the engine. The side profile of the Outlander is very conservative but its 18-inch alloy wheels shout its presence as they are very eye-catchy. Depending on the owner’s taste, roof rails can be added to improve the Outlander’s overall appearance. Some grades come with a sunroof and others do not. The rear end of the Outlander has tail lights and turn signals. The roof spoiler enhances the sportiness of this car as well as improving the aerodynamics. Its tailgate is electronically driven and this comes in very handy especially when your hands are full of cargo. The 2019 Outlander gives a good combination of modernity and functionality.

Stability And Handling

The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander has a comfortable and stable ride. Its power-assisted steering wheel allows it to easily adapt to road curvature. This can be confirmed when overtaking on highways or even trying to park in a confined space. The MacPherson struts in the front and a multi-link suspension in the rear protect occupants from experiencing any kind of jarring movements especially when driving on uneven road surfaces. The cabin is well-insulated to prevent outside noise from bothering passengers who value a quiet ride.

Its approach and departure angles plus its high ground clearance allow it to exploit off-road terrains without any risk of damaging its body components. Anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution play a big role in this crossover SUV especially when trying to avert a possible accident or collision. The engine works in tandem with the transmission system to deliver a smooth start and good acceleration. Traction control and hill start assist are some of the technologies incorporated in the Outlander to improve its stability.

Reliability

The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander is considered to have an average reliability. Its high ground clearance allows it to be driven in off-road terrains. However, just like any other car, the Outlander is not immune to problems, premature brake wear and transmission troubles are the most commonly reported issues by Outlander owners. Regular service and maintenance are required to avoid experiencing such kinds of troubles.

Conclusion

The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander makes a good choice for people who are after versatility, practicality, and reliability. The Outlander sits in a very competitive category and so when it comes to luxury and cutting-edge technologies, it may not offer the best compared to its rivals. The availability of the third-row seat largely appeals to folks with big families. Due to its exorbitant price, individuals on a tight budget may not be able to own it.
