2019 Nissan GT-R Review

The Nissan GT-R "Godzilla" is becoming a preferred sports car worldwide in comparison to the Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Porsche 911 due to its low purchase price while retaining competitive features. However, it is not among the most sought-after cars in the Kenyan market due to its higher acquisition price and inability to navigate Kenyan roads without damaging its body components. The Porsche 911, Chevrolet Corvette, Jaguar F-Type, BMW i8, and Mercedes-Benz AMG GTR are among its closest rivals.

2019 Nissan GT-R front and side view

The Nissan GT-R debuted in 2007, and it has since undergone several changes, tweaks, and enhancements to become what it is today. The GT-R is built on the PM platform and has novel concepts and technology such as enhanced aerodynamics, an active suspension system, and the ATTESA E-TS Pro all-wheel-drive system, making it the world’s first rear-mounted independent transaxle all-wheel-drive car. It was among the first cars to incorporate launch control and a dual-clutch transmission. The overall body is made of steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber.

The 2019 Nissan GT-R has only one engine option: a 3.8 L V6 twin-turbocharged VR38DETT (Petrol) paired to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Interior

Legroom & Space

The cabin of the 2019 Nissan GT-R is magnificent and lovely. The first row has plenty of legroom and headroom, and the bucket seats can recline to accommodate your preferred posture. Adults seated in the second row will find it cramped and unpleasant due to the slanted roof line limiting knee room and headroom. It is solely suitable for children.

Cabin Storage

The 2019 Nissan GT-R offers numerous storage compartments for essentials like soft drinks, documents, keys, and other valuables. The first row has two cupholders, door pockets, a glove box, and a center console. Second-row passengers have access to a cup holder.

Boot Space

The 2019 Nissan GT-R has an ample trunk that can only fit modest and medium-sized luggage.

Exterior

The 2019 Nissan GT-R boasts a powerful and aggressive look. To convey its stature, the front end is marked by a massive grille with some chrome accents and the GT-R badge. The bonnet is adorned with air ducts, which not only add to the car’s aesthetic appeal but also aid in keeping the engine cool. The lower fascia features a lip spoiler and air vents, which improve the aerodynamics of the GT-R and contribute to its fast speed.

The GT-R’s side profile is more cosmetically pleasing due to its low ground clearance and side skirts. The distinctive four-round taillights remain on the rear end. There are additional air ducts and vents in the rear for additional brake cooling and to provide a smoother airflow to reduce drag. The rear spoiler is body-colored, although some special editions include a dry carbon fiber rear spoiler to increase rear downforce. The lower bumper is integrated with double twin exhausts adding more aggression to the rear.

The engine works in tandem with the transmission system to deliver a smooth launch and good acceleration.

The GT-R’s suspension system protects the passengers from abrupt movements. Because it can accelerate very swiftly in a matter of seconds, it is fitted with powerful brakes that can bring it to a halt in a matter of seconds, preventing any type of calamity.
