The AH10, the original Alphard model, entered manufacturing in 2002 and was produced until 2008. It was designed with a curved shape that gave the impression of a smaller car in order to appeal to younger buyers between the ages of 30 and 40. By choosing a front-wheel-drive setup for its predecessor, Toyota did away with the requirement for a bulky drive shaft. In 2003, a hybrid variant was added to the range.

The AH20, the second generation of the Alphard, was released in 2008 and manufactured until 2015. The Vellfire twin model was introduced at this period. Toyota asserts that the Alphard has an “elegant and sophisticated” design, whilst the Vellfire places a great focus on “strength and individuality.”

Production of the third-generation Alphard, also known as AH30, started in 2015 and will last until 2023. Its exterior was entirely different, and it also featured two new engines. The top-tier Executive Lounge grade has been added to both the Alphard and Vellfire. The brand-new double-wishbone rear suspension has taken the place of the original torsion beam system. The new suspension was developed with the intention of maintaining the body’s rigidity and silence. The new platform’s floor has been considerably flattened, allowing the second-row seats to move forward and backward.

The third-generation Alphard’s Lexus-badged derivative, the Lexus LM, debuted in 2019. Luxury Mover is referred to by the acronym LM. The Alphard is somewhat longer than the LM.

The AH40, the Toyota Alphard’s fourth generation, went into production in 2023. Three engine options are offered for the 2019 Toyota Alphard: a 2.5 L 2AR-FE (petrol), a 3.5 L 2GR-FKS V6 (petrol), and a 2.5 L 2AR-FXE (hybrid), each coupled to a 7-speed super CVT-I and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Interior

Legroom & Space

The interior of the 2019 Toyota Alphard is gorgeous and opulent, and it is arguably the most exquisite minivan layout available.

There is a lot of headroom and legroom in the first row of the Alphard. The seats may recline to a comfortable position and have lumbar support. With enough room for legs and knees, the second row is similarly superb. The third row is very cozy, with sufficient head and knee room.

Cabin Storage

The cabin of the 2019 Toyota Alphard is made more pleasant by its multiple-compartment storage.

The front row includes a center console, a glovebox, door pockets, and two cupholders. Cupholders, a pop-up table storage area, and door pockets are available in the second row.

Boot Space

The 2019 Toyota Alphard offers a sizable cargo area that can hold modest and medium-sized luggage. To provide additional room, second and third-row seats can be retracted.

Exterior

The 2019 Toyota Alphard is stunning and even has a slight aerodynamic appearance thanks to its curved snout. A huge chrome-accented grille can be seen on the front end. Surprisingly, the Toyota emblem is missing. A set of modern LED headlights with LED daytime running lights flank the grille. Despite its boxy appearance, the Alphard has a sleek profile from the side because of a sharp window crease that joins the B-pillar to create the illusion of a floating roof. The sweeping LED turn signals on the Alphard give it an immensely upscale and contemporary appearance.

The rear end has a big tailgate, LED tail lamps, and turn signals.

Stability And Handling

The ride quality of the 2019 Toyota Alphard is smooth and enjoyable. Because it is very responsive to road curvature, the steering wheel is genuinely wonderful, as this can be felt while approaching tight curves. The engine and transmission system work in tandem to provide a smooth start and descent acceleration.

The cabin is top-notch due to the suspension system’s calibration, as you won’t suffer any shaky motions or noise from bumpy roads. Excellent braking capabilities enable this vehicle to come to a complete stop in a matter of seconds, preventing collisions of any kind.

Electronic brakeforce distribution, an anti-lock braking system, and traction control are additional technical advancements incorporated into this vehicle. These features all help improve the vehicle’s stability and handling.

Reliability

The 2019 Toyota Alphard is a dependable car. Due to the car’s limited ground clearance and potential for body component fragmentation, it is not advised to drive off-road in this vehicle. The Alphard, however, is not impervious to issues like any other vehicle. The most frequently reported problems involve the transmission, particularly in vehicles with CVT. To optimize this vehicle’s potential, regular repairs and maintenance are required.

Refer to the Toyota Alphard buyer guide for a thorough dependability report. We also urge that you always follow the instructions in the owner’s manual.
