2019 Toyota Harrier Review

Toyota Harrier is setting the pace in the Kenyan market when it comes to exterior appearance, fuel economy, and reliability. This is evident on the roads as you can barely fail to spot a Harrier. Despite the fact that it is quite pricey, it provides good value for money. It contends against the Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan Murano, Volkswagen Touareg, Mazda CX5, Lexus NX, Mercedes Benz GLA, and Honda CRV.

Detailed Review

Toyota Harrier production began in 1998 and is still going on today. In overseas countries, the Harrier was rebadged as the Lexus RX from March 1998 until December 2008.  Toyota had not yet begun selling the Lexus brand to Japanese customers at the time. The second generation Toyota Harrier, designated XU30, debuted alongside the export Lexus model in 2003.  It was nearly identical to the Lexus RX during its first and second versions.

The third-generation Harrier, known as the XU60, was launched in 2013 as a separate model line based on a platform independent from the RX. The Toyota Harrier XU80, the fourth generation, was released in 2020 and is continuing in production today.

The 2019 Toyota Harrier is available with three engine options: a 2.0 L 3ZR-FAE (Petrol), and a 2.5 L 2AR-FXE (Hybrid) which are coupled to a 6-speed automatic and eCVT transmission (Hybrid). Click here to purchase the 2019 Toyota Harrier Buyer’s Guide.
