The 2019 VW Touareg marks the third generation of Touareg which is still in production to date. Its user-friendly infotainment system and agility when going off-road are quite attractive to car enthusiasts. It goes up against BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Range Rover Sport, and Volvo XC90.

Detailed Review

The first generation VW Touareg dubbed the 7L, was manufactured from 2002 to 2010. 4motion four-wheel drive technology is standard on the Touareg. It had an automatic progressively locking center differential (with manual override) and a cabin “low range” setting. To improve off-road capability, the Touareg offers an optional 4-wheel active air suspension that can raise the ride height on command, as well as a locking rear differential.

In 2006, the Touareg was revamped. There is now adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and freshly revised comfort seats. A diesel particulate filter is standard on all diesel versions.

The second generation VW Touareg, designated 7P, was produced between 2010 and 2018. It came included with a lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitor, and adaptive air suspension.

During this time, the Touareg hybrid also debuted. The Touareg 7P underwent a facelift for the 2016 model year, which includes standard bi-xenon headlights, an automatic post-collision braking system, a redesigned adaptive cruise control, and an improved basic steel-spring suspension.

The third-generation Volkswagen Touareg codenamed CR, debuted in 2018 and is still in production today. It places a high value on fuel efficiency.

The 2019 VW Touareg is available with a single engine option: a 3.0 L (Diesel) coupled to an 8-speed automated transmission.
