The 2024 Toyota Prius is the fifth generation of Toyota's pioneering hybrid vehicle, which first launched in 1997 as the world's first mass-produced hybrid car. The first generation ran from 1997 to 2003, followed by the second generation (2003-2009) that introduced the distinctive wedge shape. The third generation (2009-2015) refined the aerodynamic design, while the fourth generation (2015-2023) maintained the angular styling. The current fifth generation launched in 2023 and continues for 2024, featuring a completely redesigned, lower profile that moves away from the tall wedge shape of previous generations while maintaining Toyota's hybrid efficiency leadership.
