The Toyota Surf or Toyota Hilux Surf as its alternatively known is a full sized SUV that is designed by Hino motors and produced jointly with Toyota Motors. It’s export to North America as the Toyota 4Runner and its one of the most popular Toyota SUVs. It’s no longer sold in Japan since August 2009 and this has consequently led to its decline in the Kenyan market.
As the name suggests, the Toyota Surf is built on the same platform as the Toyota Hilux which is also shared with Fortuner, Prado and FJ Cruiser. It was in production for four generations starting from 1983 to 2009. The fourth generation was in production from 2002 to 2009 and it was the last model to be sold in Kenya.
