Detailed Review

The Mitsubishi Outlander has been in production for four generations since 2001. The first generation was sold as Airtrek in Japan and Outlander in other markets from 2001 to 2005. The second generation was produced between 2006 and 2011. The third generation was launched in 2012 with a new hybrid known as the Outlander PHEV injected into the lineup. The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander comes with five engine options these are these are the 2.0-liter 4J11 MIVEC Engine, 2.4-liter 4J12 MIVEC Engine, 3.0-liter 6B31 MIVEC Engine all petrol, the 2.2 4N14 DI-D  diesel engine and the  2.0-liter 4B11  PHEV engine for the hybrid version.

2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Grades

1. 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander ES- This is the base grade that comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED running lights and taillights, heated mirrors, rear privacy glass, cruise control, automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver seat, Mitsubishi’s “Fuse” voice-command system, Bluetooth connectivity and a six-speaker sound system.
2. 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander SE-  This grade adds foglights, keyless ignition and entry, body-color side mirrors with integrated turn signals, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a rearview camera and an upgraded audio system with a 6.1-inch touchscreen display and HD radio.
3. 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL- This grade gets you black roof rails, gloss-black interior trim, leather upholstery and a power driver seat. It also boasts a range of packages  which include (Premium, Advanced Safety, and Touring)
4. 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander GT- This trim comes adds  LED headlights, silver roof rails, chrome exterior beltline accents, shift paddles and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Interior, Legroom & Space

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander has a spacious interior with ample legroom and headroom for both the driver and the passengers. In the first row, the seats are comfortable and offer good support. The second-row seats are also comfortable and can slide and recline for added comfort, especially during long drives. The third-row seats which are available in higher grades have tight legroom which is enough for children or small adults.

The second row is now simple to flip and fold thanks to a 1-2-3 system of straps and levers. This allows for easy access to the third-row seats.

Cabin Storage

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander has a spacious cabin with plenty of storage options. In the first row, there are 4 cup holders, door panel storage, a storage shelf below the dashboard, a glovebox, and the center box. For the second row, the only storage is on the front seat jacket pockets. For the third row, there is one pocket compartment on the left side.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander has a spacious boot with a capacity of 10.3 cubic feet when all seats are in place. This is a decent size, particularly for a mid-sized SUV, and should be able to accommodate the luggage of a family of four or five easily.

With the third-row seats folded down, the cargo capacity increases to 34.2 cubic feet and up to 63.3 cubic feet with both the second and third-row seats folded down.
