The Toyota Allion replaced the Toyota Carina to the disappointment of many fans who loved the Carina’s sporty appeal. Over time, the Allion’s elegant design and practicality has slowly won them over. It also has an upper hand in the Kenyan market compared to its competitors thanks to its low maintance costs and availability of spare parts. It competes with the Mazda Atenza, Nissan Sylphy, VW Passat, Audi A4, Subaru Legacy and Mercedes C180.
The Toyota Auris has everything going for it. From the well crafted exterior to a fairly spacious interior, everything feels just right. It borrows bits and pieces from the diverse Toyota range and blends them into this dignified hatchback. It competes with the Subaru Impreza, VW Golf, Mazda Axela, Nissan Tiida, Peugeot 306 and Audi A3.
With the introduction of the third generation in December 2013 the Toyota Harrier was decoupled from the Lexus RX and they are now separate entities. The Harrier has undergone extensive changes with the most notable being the futuristic frontal redesign. The driving dynamics have also changed significantly with the introduction of a 2.0 Litre powerplant.
The Toyota Wish is a 7-Seater MPV that has enjoyed considerable success in the Kenyan market. Its longevity in the market can be attributed to its reputation for reliability, practicality and low maintenance costs. Though it has maintained much of the original body style, it has continuous upgrades that have made it remain relevant in the market. The Toyota Passo is an interesting car to review. On one hand there’s the 5 seater version and on the other there’s the 7 seater version known as the Passo Sette. These are two distinct cars that cannot be reviewed in a single article. We therefore elected to review them separately but the question that still lingers is why Toyota would give them the same name. There has to be some logic, maybe a shortage of names? We honestly don’t know and will not dwell on it but only to emphasize to buyers that these two cars are not related.
When it comes to Mercedes Benz executive cars, the E-Class seats one rung below the venerated S-Class that inhabits the pinnacle of luxury. The E-Class is a global leader in a wide range of aspects such as comfort, design and safety. Many car manufacturers have expended immense capital to try dethrone it and they are fielding heavyweights such as the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Lexus ES and Volvo S90.
The Toyota HiAce is a light commercial van that is manufactured by Toyota and sold in various markets around the world. It’s a multipurpose vehicle that is highly configurable for diverse applications such as public transport, cargo transport and executive transport. In Kenya, it’s widely used as a public transport vehicle popularly known as the Matatu and other roles such as tour operations.
