The 2016 Mark X has a modern interior with the dashboard being made up of beige and dark grey plastics, with a silver metallic finish around the radio. The center console is finished with leather, silver, and red plastic wood.

The front seats are wide, plush, roomy, and comfy. They also provide a lot of sides and under-leg support. The driver and front passenger each have an appropriate head, leg, and knee room. Three passengers can fit in the rear seats, which are equally soft and comfy, with the window-side passengers having significantly more room for their legs and knees.

Safety Features

Standard safety features in the 2014 Mark X include Driver Airbag, Passenger Airbag, Side Airbag, Traction Control, ABS, EBD, and Engine Immobilizer

Cabin Storage

For the 1st row, there are 4 cup/bottle holders, door panel storage, a storage shelf below the dashboard, a glovebox, and the center box. For the second row, the storage is on the front seat jacket pockets and door side pockets.

Boot Space

The Mark X is a saloon car hence has a small boot space that can only be meant for light luggage If more space is required, the rear seatbacks can be folded to create that extra space to accommodate much larger goods.

Exterior

The Toyota Mark X has a unique appearance with a protruding wrinkle extending from the front to the back. This provides the illusion that the top of the vehicle is sitting on the bottom. The Mark X lacks a Toyota emblem and instead features a large or small “X” on the grille. The exhaust of the Mark X is integrated into the rear bumper.

Ground Clearance

The 2016 Mark X has a ground clearance of 6.1 inches. This is a very low car by Kenyan standards and will not clear some speed bumps. It might be necessary to modify the ground clearance to adjust the car to Kenyan roads.

Fuel Consumption

The 2.5 engine has a fuel economy of 12.9 km/l while the 3.5 engine consumes 10.2km/l

Fuel Tank Capacity

71 liters

Reliability

The 2016 Mark X is well built and has a good reputation. Its engines use a timing chain, which does not require regular replacement. The sole typical problem is the engine oxygen sensors failure. These help the engine work out how much fuel and air is being burnt and allow it to self-tune for power and emissions. If the sensor fails, the ‘Check engine’ light will come on.

Spare Parts Availability, Cost & Where to buy
Service and suspension parts for the 2012 Toyota Mark X are widely available in Kenya. These parts are shared across many Toyotas and therefore are affordable and easy to find. Body parts are still expensive as the car is still new in the market but will come down with time. In Nairobi, most spare shops in Industrial Area and Kirinyaga Road stock these parts.
