The Suzuki Baleno has captured the hearts of many buyers and gained loyalty in Kenya due to its impressive fuel economy, spacious interior, and nimble handling. Produced by the Japanese automaker Suzuki, the Baleno first debuted in 1996 as a replacement for the Suzuki Cultus Crescent. The name "Baleno" is derived from the Italian word for "lightning", which reflects the car's sporty and dynamic design. It competes with the Honda Fit, Toyota Vitz, Volkswagen Polo, Suzuki Swift, Ford Fiesta and Mazda Demio.

Suzuki has built a reputation for producing dependable and distinctive small SUVs over the years. Suzuki decided to enter the field of entry-level saloon automobiles since the automotive industry is continuously changing. One of the saloon cars produced by the giant automobile is the Suzuki Ciaz.

The Suzuki Escudo is a capable off-road vehicle and it's one of the few medium sized SUVs with this capability. Even with it's acclaimed off-road talents and decent on-road manners, the Escudo lags behind its competitors in the Kenyan market such as the Subaru Forester, Mazda CX5, Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4 and Nissan X-Trail.

The Suzuki Jimny, the Land Rover Defender, the Mercedes G Wagon and the Jeep Wrangler all have two things in common; they trace their roots to military cars and they appeal to a distinctly masculine clientele. These are cars that awaken a sense of adventure like no other and the Suzuki Jimny stands out amongst these as the only car that offers the same level of off-road capability but at a significantly lower price point. It's a highly modifiable platform that can be fitted with a wide range of accessories which makes it a highly desirable car.

This is largely due to the stranglehold that Toyota has had on this market which has for a long time suppressed competition. Now the stranglehold is whittling and people are beginning to notice other alternatives such as the Suzuki Swift. It competes with the Toyota Passo, Nissan March, Mazda Verisa and Mini Cooper.

The Suzuki Alto is not a new kid on the block. It has been around since 1979 but it just recently made an entry into the Kenyan market. Its popularity has largely been driven by demand from taxi hailing apps but has seen minimal uptake elsewhere. To make matters worse, its image has been dented by reports circulating on social media depicting an unsafe motor that falls apart even in minor accidents. These issues affect the locally sold model which is based on the Indian version known as the Maruti Alto. This is an entirely different car from the Japanese version that we are reviewing here.
